Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), which has brought in many players, including Lee Kang-in, is planning to sell several players.
France’s Le Parisien reported on Thursday (June 14), “PSG is looking to sell players who were on loan last season. The transfer of Mauro Icardi is already planned. They want to reduce their wage bill and make money.”
PSG is rebuilding. They won the French Ligue 1 last season, but their overall performance was unsatisfactory and they made an early exit from the UEFA Champions League (UCL). That’s why coach Christophe Galtier was fired. In addition to the results, there was also a lack of locker room discipline. Out went Galtier and in came Luis Enrique.
Enrique’s arrival was followed by one official after another. Even before Enrique’s appointment, the transfers were agreed upon. Milan Škriniar, a former Inter Milan defensive nucleus, joined the club, while Marco Asensio, who had won numerous trophies with Real Madrid, donned the PSG shirt. Manuel Ugarte, a tackling mastermind at Sporting, also confirmed his arrival.
Lee Kang-in is also included. Last season, Lee emerged as a top-class player in Spanish La Liga with Real Mallorca. His dribbling ability also stood out. Looking beyond La Liga and across all five major European leagues, only a handful of players had more successful dribbles than Lee. Only Lionel Messi and Vinicius Junior were above him. At PSG, there are hopes that he will continue his form from Mallorca.
Then came Luka Hernandez from Bayern Munich and Cher Undur from Benfica, for a total of six new arrivals. That’s six newcomers this summer, even with the outright acquisition of N’Golo Kante. PSG will not stop there. They will continue to strengthen on the offensive side. They’ve already made a lot of signings and will make more, so they need to sell.
They’re going to get rid of players who haven’t made an impact. We’ve already parted ways with Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos. Leandro Paredes, Keylor Navas, Julian Draxler, Colin Dagba, Rabin Kurzawa, Abdou Diallo, and Giorginio Binaldum are on the list. Icardi is a favorite to join Galatasaray. He had a good season on loan last season, so a full transfer is possible.
Selling all the players on the list would give PSG the financial space to bring in their main targets.
