Choi Ji-Man (32-Pittsburgh Pirates), who has been searching for a hit in the minor leagues, has had his hitting streak halted.
Choi, who is playing for the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians of the Pittsburgh organization, started at first base and went 0-for-3 with a walk against the Memphis Redbirds (St. Louis Cardinals) on June 6 at Victory Field in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. 메이저놀이터
Choi struck out in his first at-bat. In the second inning, Choi drew a straight-up walk. Miguel Andujar followed with a walk, allowing Choi to steal second, but Kaylen Smith-Njiba grounded out to first base.
In the third inning, Choi stole second and was out on a fly ball to right field. The sixth inning was also hitless. With one out, he flied out to center field.
Choi would not be able to break his silence. In the eighth inning, he swung at a two-out, two-ball, one-strike pitch, but was caught by the pitcher. Choi’s hitting streak came to a halt after he had a multi-hit game in each of the previous two games.
Choi felt pain in his left ankle on April 15 against St. Louis and was diagnosed with a sprained Achilles tendon the next day and placed on the disabled list (IL).
After recovering from the injury, Choi started playing in Double-A games on April 23 to get a feel for the game. He started playing in Triple-A on Sept. 29, and his hitting has been on an upward curve.
In six Triple-A games, Choi is batting .348 with three home runs, nine RBIs, and a 1.274 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) as he looks to make a late-season comeback.
